When you invest your time, money, or supplies into Strange & Selfless, you aren’t funding corporate red tape or administrative bloat. You are fueling an agile, pavement-level mutual care initiative designed to hit crisis exactly where it lives in Charlotte.
We believe in radical trust, but we also believe in fierce stewardship of our community’s collective resources. To ensure that every single item we distribute reaches the hands of those who truly need it most—and to keep our operation entirely transparent and scam-free—we require a Resource Alignment Packet for everyone receiving direct aid. We don't ask neighbors to "qualify" based on arbitrary poverty lines. Instead, we gather contextual documentation so we can customize our resource packs specifically to their exact survival, household, or employment needs.
To maintain absolute transparency and protect the funds our community sacrifices to give, we never hand out cash directly to individuals. Instead, financial donations are used strictly to purchase exact, vetted essentials, fulfill direct emergency requests (like paying a utility bill or prescription directly to the source), and buy the high-quality items that stock our trailer.
We care deeply about the people we serve, which means we refuse to hand them the cheapest possible options just to check a box. If we wouldn’t use a product ourselves, or if we wouldn't give it to our own kids and families, we are absolutely not giving it to our neighbors. The comfort, quality, and dignity of the people we help are just as important as anyone else's.
When you give here, you are partnering in a sustainable, accountable system where nothing is wasted, everything is intentional, and real community care—rooted in dignity—comes first.

We’ve partnered with DoorDash to break down the single biggest barrier to mutual aid: transportation. When a neighbor completes their Resource Alignment Packet, they don't have to worry about how they are going to get their supplies. We dispatch their custom kits directly to their doorstep with zero stigma and zero cost to them.
Our delivery network is HUGE. From our dispatch hub (dead center), we can reach neighbors across a massive footprint in Mecklenburg & Cabarrus Counties, ensuring aid isn't locked down to just one neighborhood.
No waiting weeks for a bureaucracy to process a request. Once a tailored kit is packed and matched to a neighbor's contextual needs, a Dash driver is routed to deliver it immediately.
We cover 100% of the delivery logistics. Neighbors receive their groceries, diapers, or crisis packs on their porch exactly like a standard retail order—safeguarding their time, their gas money, and their dignity.
We are actively dismantling transportation barriers in our community. We use Lyft to coordinate direct, fare-free rides for passengers and resource access, keeping our support low-barrier and zero-stigma. Reach out today if you need assistance with transportation or would like to help fund our Strange & Selfless Express Fund!
